FINRA

University FINRA Tuzla

University FINRA Tuzla is a higher education institution located in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Higher Education Institution FINRA was founded in 2016 and, after eight years of successful operation, has grown into the University FINRA Tuzla. 

University FINRA Tuzla offers academic programs through four faculties:

  1. Faculty of Technical Sciences, Faculty ofUndergraduate study programs: “Finance and Accounting”, “Accounting and Informatics”, “Ecological Agriculture”, “Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy” and “Modern Management and Digital Business”. 

  2.  Master’s study programs: “Forensic Accounting and Audit” and “Advanced Financial Management and Controlling”. 

  3.  PhD program: “Economics and Digital Business” Multidisciplinarity and an entrepreneurial orientation are key characteristics of the five undergraduate study programs, two master’s programs, and the doctoral study program. Since its establishment, the higher education institution FINRA has implemented a modern educational concept that represents a unique blend of theory and practice.  

A total of 294 FINRA graduates have successfully gained employment, while more than 30 have started or continued running their own business. University FINRA Tuzla is recognized as a higher education institution that is dedicated and committed to providing young people with the knowledge and skills demanded by the labor market, preparing them for professions that are consistently in high demand in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the EU, and worldwide.

 

Vision and Mission FINRA

Vision and Mission FINRA strives to become a modern, autonomous higher education institution, deeply integrated into the   academic community as well as into partnerships with the business sector, society, and reputable domestic and  international scientific-educational institutions. Its goal is to educate competent and recognized professionals in the fields of economics, IT, tourism, hospitality, and ecological agriculture.  

The mission of the University FINRA is to ensure modern and innovative education that connects theory and practice, enabling students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to be competent and competitive in the labor market. The study programs are oriented toward entrepreneurship and empower students to start and manage their own businesses.

The quality of the programs is continuously improved through the modernization of curricula, programs, and syllabi.  University FINRA aims to: 

• deliver high-quality academic programs aligned with modern labor market needs, 

• promote research excellence and interdisciplinary cooperation, 

• strengthen international partnerships and participation in EU projects, 

• support student employability through practical training and industry collaboration, 

• contribute to social and economic development through education, innovation, and applied research.   

 

All classrooms are equipped with SMART boards and full audio-video systems, while all lectures and exercises are recorded and uploaded to the University’s internal e-platform to ensure efficient knowledge transfer. Since its establishment, FINRA has maintained long-term cooperation with EBSCO, providing students and academic staff with access to one of the most advanced electronic libraries — the EBSCO e-database, which contains more than 30,000 books and professional publications.  

 

FINRA has been awarded the prestigious Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) for the period 2021/2027. This Charter, granted by the European Commission, represents recognition of our commitment to highquality education, international cooperation, and student and staff mobility.  The University FINRA continuously organizes workshops, information sessions, and consultations related to the Erasmus+ programme and maintains active, long-term cooperation with the National Erasmus+ Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of strengthening international mobility, improving the quality of study programs, and enhancing the competencies of students and academic staff.     

With the aim of establishing long-term business cooperation, connecting higher education, science, and industry, and intensifying the application of scientific research results in business operations, the University has signed over 400 cooperation agreements with companies from the business sector. These agreements enable students to carry out internships in these companies, with the goal of applying acquired theoretical knowledge in practice.    

 Through the project “Practice–Scholarship–Employment”, the University fulfills one of its key objectives—to ensure that its students are employed immediately after graduation, either with the employers where they completed their internships or with other companies that recognize the theoretical and practical skills students acquire during their studies in one of the University’s study programs. Thanks to these agreements, all 294 students who completed their studies at FINRA and graduated have successfully found employment.

Since its establishment, over the past ten years FINRA has awarded scholarships totaling more than 1 million BAM (500.000 EUR). 

 

The University FINRA Tuzla, through the work of its Center for Scientific Research and International Cooperation, actively and dedicatedly participates in the Erasmus+ program and other international projects, providing its students and staff with exceptional opportunities for academic advancement and professional development abroad. Through these programs, participants strengthen their practical competencies, broaden their international perspectives, and build strong foundations for successful careers in an increasingly competitive environment. 

 

At the 13th Symposium, held in September 2025 on the theme “Sustainable Development and Digital Transformation”, a total of 40 papers were presented by professors and experts from several countries, including a significant number of academic staff from the University FINRA Tuzla. In total, 67 papers were included in the Conference Proceedings, comprising more than 1,000 pages. The papers covered a wide range of fields, including digital transformation, sustainable development, ESG standards, finance, accounting, auditing, forensic accounting, banking, marketing, AI technologies, as well as tourism, agriculture, and gastronomy. • International Scientific and Professional Conferences: − The “ISCRFA” - Conference on contemporary challenges in forensic accounting and audit (AI, digital assets, sustainability). − The Conference on “Branding and Sustainable Development of Tourist Destinations” (tourism, hospitality, gastronomy). − The “FOKUS” Conference on forensics, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence for digital security. − The “EU Green Agenda and Sustainable Development of Organic Agriculture in Bosnia and Herzegovina” (organic agriculture, circular economy, sustainable development). 10. International student competitions • Since 2021, FINRA has been co-hosting the international competition “Marketing Challenge” in cooperation with College for Project Management PMC, Belgrade, Serbia. This competition assembles students from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia and Serbia. Marketing Challenge is designed to provide a platform for students to exchange knowledge, ideas, and experiences in the field of marketing, and to encourage innovative thinking and teamwork.

Organizational and Management Structure

The University has established an organizational and management structure with clearly defined methods of selection, competencies, and responsibilities, formalized through internal general and individual legal acts. The competencies and responsibilities of University bodies are clearly defined and separated in academic matters and financial management, all in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Higher Education Act of Tuzla Canton and other relevant regulations governing this area.

In accordance with the Statute, the University establishes other expert, managerial, or supervisory bodies as needed, whose formation, composition, competencies, and jurisdiction are regulated by special rules.

Within their competencies, University bodies adopt internal general and individual legal acts: statutes, decisions, rules, regulations, procedures, recommendations, and other acts in accordance with their jurisdiction. The competencies, duties, and responsibilities of the established bodies, organs, and organizational units are defined by the Higher Education Act of Tuzla Canton, the University Development Strategy, the Statute, and the Rulebook on Internal Organization and Job Systematization.
