The University is a leader in training specialists in light and chemical industries, fashion industry, business, artistic and technical modelling and design of industrial products, art, economics and consumer services, law, etc. It is one of the oldest technological institutions of higher education in the country. The University has a number of unique scientific schools that carry out research and innovation activities and they are recognized both in Ukraine and abroad.

The mission of the University is to promote sustainable development of the region and the country; meet the educational needs of the population regardless of place of residence/stay; train competitive specialists for the economy; participate actively in the personal development of each person, his education and improvement of abilities.
