The University of Montenegro (UoM), founded in 1974, is the largest and only public university in Montenegro and represents the central pillar of higher education, research, and innovation in the country. With 19 faculties and four research institutes, the University educates approximately 17,000 students and serves as a key driver of academic excellence and societal development at national and regional levels.

Since 2003, the University of Montenegro has fully aligned its academic structure with the principles of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), continuously modernising its education, research, and governance systems in line with European standards.

Strong International Partnerships and European University Alliance
The University of Montenegro maintains a wide network of international partnerships with universities, research centres, public institutions, and industry stakeholders across Europe and beyond. A major milestone in its international engagement is its membership in the European University Alliance Ulysseus, through which UoM collaborates closely with partner universities on innovative education models, joint research initiatives, digital transformation, and societal impact.

Extensive Experience in European and International Projects
The University of Montenegro has extensive experience in implementing European and international funded projects, including Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, Interreg, Creative Europe, EIT-related initiatives, and other EU and bilateral programmes. Over the years, the University has participated in a large number of international projects addressing topics such as:
